Medical Negligence Experts To Investigate Mother-Of-Five’s Care
An inquest to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a mother-of-five following treatment at a Wolverhampton Hospital is scheduled to start on Monday 9th March and is listed for three days.
Hilda Seagrave, from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, was diagnosed with a clotting disorder affecting her lungs in May 2011 at New Cross Hospital. The Hospital advised that she would require a constant oxygen supply at home to treat the condition. She was discharged with a 24 hour oxygen supply.
On 25 June 2011, Hilda suffered a bad fall at home whilst she was cleaning. She needed urgent medical treatment and was rushed to the A&E department at New Cross Hospital by ambulance.
The 74-year-old sadly died a day later on 26 June 2011 after her family were told her condition rapidly deteriorated through the night and she had suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest and could not be resuscitated.
An inquest into her death is due to begin this week before HM Coroner Siddique, the Black Country Coroner, at Smethwick Council House. Hilda’s family, including husband Lawrence Seagrave, will be attending and are being represented by medical negligence experts at law firm Irwin Mitchell.
