Irwin Mitchell’s serious injury solicitors helped a young man from Birmingham secure £90,000 after an accident at work.
The accident occurred when our client slipped on uneven ground. The man fell to the floor and was then hit by a reversing forklift truck. As a result, he suffered a complex crush fracture to the middle of his right foot and had to undergo surgery. Due to his injuries, our client is at risk of further deterioration which is likely to result in the mid-foot needing to be fused.
Our serious injury team helped to secure the man £90,000 in an out of court settlement. This amount will compensate his loss of earnings, account for future days off due to surgery and provide an allowance for the fact that he may struggle obtaining work if he loses his job. The figure also includes a provision for some assistance around the home and funds for future care costs.
Kate Hewson, an Associate Solicitor in our serious injury team said: “The sum agreed reflects the serious nature of the injury that this gentleman sustained.
“Whilst he has gone back to work full-time, the award reflects the fact that he likely to require future surgery, further time off work and if he were to find himself out of work, his injuries would mean he was at a disadvantage in applying for new manual roles.”
