The highly experienced Personal Injury team at Irwin Mitchell helped a 60-year-old man from Cornwall claim compensation after suffering severe injuries, when his motorbike was involved in a near head-on collision with a car.
Our client's injuries were so bad that an above knee amputation was required, which has now severely impacted upon his ability to work and live independently.
He decided to contact Irwin Mitchell's Personal Injury team, who worked extremely hard to gather evidence and ensure the claim was successful. As a result, an out of court settlement was agreed, valuing the case at approximately £1.3 million.
This settlement will contribute towards acquiring new prosthetics, modifying his living accommodation and will also ensure that he receives ongoing physio and psychiatric therapy.
Stephen Nye is a senior partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office. Having led the case, Stephen said: "These were life changing injuries for our client and the case was vigorously contested. The settlement was largely successful due to the hard work and dedication of our personal injury team, who were able to gather sufficient evidence in supporting our case.
"Our victory has given the client is a substantial settlement sum, which will provide him with financial security in the future and which will go some way to meeting his care, prosthetics and therapy costs".
