Specialist personal injury solicitor Stephanie Whatmore, from Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office, has secured a five figure sum in compensation for a woman who injured herself after falling whilst shopping.
Our client, who at the time of the incident was shopping at a store in Romford, was walking towards the rear of the store when she suddenly tripped and fell to the floor.
Following the fall, she was immediately shocked. As she was still laying on the floor, she looked around to see what had caused her fall and noticed a number of items on the floor including packaging materials directly where she had tripped.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance and underwent x-rays and was diagnosed with a broken and fractured right shoulder and arm. Her arm was placed in an across the body sling with waist support and she was advised not to use the arm. Some muscle and ligament damage was also caused by the accident and our client underwent a course of physiotherapy to help the recovery of her injuries.
Following the accident, our client required care and assistance from her husband in tasks such as washing, dressing and domestic chores. The Christmas holidays were extremely difficult as our client was unable to cook or shop in preparation and had to rely on family members.
She also had to postpone a job interview and was subsequently offered the job. However, her start date was delayed.
Due to the injuries sustained, through the help of specialist solicitors at Irwin Mitchell, £14,696.63 was secured in compensation in an out of court settlement.
