Irwin Mitchell’s specialist personal injury team has helped a woman claim £3,000 in compensation after she was involved in an accident at work.
Our client, from West Glamorgan, was working as a cashier in a betting shop at the time of the accident. During her lunch break, she was exiting the kitchen whilst carrying her lunch. Unfortunately, she did not see a box that was being used to hold the kitchen door open and as a result, she tripped over the box and sustained injuries to her left knee and ankle.
She decided to contact Irwin Mitchell’s specialist personal injury team and one of our experienced legal professionals, Laura McCleary, was able to deal with her claim. Initially, the betting shop denied responsibility but after some lengthy negotiations, Laura was able to secure the client £3,000 in compensation in an out-of-court settlement.
Laura McCleary of Irwin Mitchell’s fast track personal injury team based in Birmingham said: “In allowing employees to use things such as boxes to keep doors open, the defendant company failed to discharge the duty of care they owed to my client and allowed a foreseeable danger to remain.”
