A woman was driving her car, and was slowing down as she approached a pedestrian crossing, when the third party collided with the rear of the vehicle.
The woman sustained soft tissue injuries to her neck and to both knees. Shortly before the accident she had undergone surgery to her left knee and some months afterwards she required to have similar surgery to her right knee.
Our medical expert was of the view that the road traffic accident probably contributed to the need for this surgery.
Although the woman was likely to have needed both knees to be replaced at some point in the future, this accident brought forward the need for this surgery.
We were able to recover damages towards the cost of future surgery as part of the claim and the woman received £25,000 in compensation for her injuries.
