Irwin Mitchell Solicitors have helped a Yorkshire woman secure compensation after she was hit by a taxi whilst walking home from work in May 2011.
As the taxi collided with Susan, Susan’s body was thrown into the air, onto the bonnet of the car and then subsequently onto the road, at which point she was also driven over on the right side of her body.
Following the accident, Susan sustained serious injuries to her hip and required a five week stay in hospital, two operations, a four month long physiotherapy programme and the use of a zimmer frame and walking sticks to mobilise for six months.
Although Susan made a good recovery, she is unable to return to her previous work as a result of her injuries and she continues to suffer with some lower back pain.
Whilst the driver was found guilty for driving without due care and attention in criminal proceedings, Claire Newstead, a personal injury specialist at Irwin Mitchell represented Susan in relation to a separate civil claim for the personal injuries she sustained.
Through the hard work of Claire, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors were able to secure a five figure sum award in an out of court settlement for Susan, as compensation for the pain and suffering caused as a result of the accident.
