Irwin Mitchell has successfully claimed compensation for a Tamworth based man injured whilst shopping at electrical wholesaler City Electrical Factors.
Our client went to buy piping from the store but found he needed assistance taking it from the shelf for it was displayed in racking and awkwardly packaged.
A member of staff helped, and in doing so, a number of pipes fell forward on to our client’s face resulting in cuts and bruising in several places which collectively took around six months to heal. A small scar under his eye also remains.
Reiss Matthews, a personal injury specialist based in the Birmingham office, dealt with the claim and was able to recover a five figure sum in an out of court settlement for our client.
Reiss commented on the case: "It is quite alarming that someone should be involved in an accident such as this during a routine shopping trip and just emphasises the need for businesses to ensure that all precautions are taken to protect members of the public. Regrettably due to the store's failure to exercise care, our client suffered significant injuries which impacted his home life substantially and I am pleased that through our work our client was able to be compensated properly for the pain and suffering caused".
