A woman suffered injuries to her foot when she tripped over ceiling tiles while in a clothes shop.
Our client, who was 35 at the time of the accident, was shopping in a clothes store which was carrying out some repair works. She noticed that work to the store’s ceiling was being done out and several of the ceiling tiles had been removed.
As she walked through the store, she caught her foot on the metal edge of a ceiling tile that had been left on the floor. She fell, cutting her foot and sustaining soft tissue damage to her foot and toes. The lacerations to her foot healed quite quickly but there was remaining tissue damage and pain for several months after the accident.
The store admitted being at fault for the incident and the case was settled out of court for £1,700 in compensation.
