Personal injury experts from our Birmingham office helped a 64 year old woman to recover £70,000 in an out of Court settlement following a road traffic collision in which her partner suffered fatal injuries.
Mr X, who was 59, was standing on the side of the road when a motorist lost control of her vehicle and collided with him. Mr X was in the process of attempting to deliver to a house and was talking to the householder when the driver collided with him.
The driver pleaded guilty to the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention and received an endorsement of 8 points on her licence and a £3,000 fine. A compensation settlement was negotiated after Court proceedings had been issued.
The claim was pursued by Rebecca Hearsey, Associate Solicitor at the Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell. She said: “This was an accident which occurred as a result of extreme recklessness and which robbed my client of a very loving partner whom she was looking forward to a future with. Whilst Ms X has received an award which, hopefully, will allow her to obtain assistance with the things her Partner would have done for her she will, of course, not be able to replace the loving man she has tragically lost.”
