The law firm’s recent donation has allowed RSVP to rent premises in Chelmsley Wood, enabling survivors living in Chelmsley Wood and Solihull to be seen locally and without having to travel in to the city centre.
Irwin Mitchell has donated a total of £5,000 to RSVP since 2015, meaning the charity can keep the Chelmsley Wood outreach site open for a whole year.
RSVP supports and inspires children and adults in Birmingham and Solihull who have been affected by sexual violence and abuse and enables those affected to live a more confident and hopeful future, and learn to cope with and recover from their traumatic experiences.
Irwin Mitchell has worked closely in the past with the charity to support survivors of sexual abuse. In 2015, RSVP was the Charity of the Year for the law firm’s Birmingham office and in 2016, Irwin Mitchell teamed up with RSVP to provide free legal advice for the people the charity supported in the past and for those who were using its services at the time.
Lisa Thompson, CEO of RSVP, said: “We’re constantly looking to improve the services we can offer to those affected by sexual and violence and rape and donations like this from Irwin Mitchell will help in so many ways. We’re delighted to be able to offer our services from an additional location which will support those outside of Birmingham and allow us to provide survivors with appointments that are local to them, something survivors told us they needed.”
