Donation From Irwin Mitchell Set To Help With Training And Competition Costs

A Scottish international Boccia player from Glasgow has received a funding boost from Irwin Mitchell as part of the national law firm’s continuing commitment to promoting the benefits of disability sport.

Reegan Stevenson, 19, who represents Scotland in the BC1 classification of Boccia, is set to use the £150 donation to fund his ongoing training needs and also cover the costs of entering future competitions.

A ball-based sport, Boccia is known to offer a range of benefits and specifically plays a key role in the rehabilitation and recovery of those who have suffered serious and life-changing injuries.

Irwin Mitchell is giving Reegan the financial support as part of its Don’t Quit, Do It initiative to promote the benefits of disability sport, which is backed by multiple gold medal-winning Paralympian Hannah Cockroft MBE.

Reegan Stevenson added: “I am delighted to have received this donation and would like to thank Irwin Mitchell for supporting me. 

“It is great to see an organisation showing such a commitment to Boccia and disability sport in general and this donation has already made a huge difference.”

The Don’t Quit Do It grant programme from Irwin Mitchell offers disability sport charities and groups an opportunity to apply for help with the cost of training, equipment or participation in major events. It has already provided more than £50,000 to a range of different projects in the UK.

Irwin Mitchell has also been a long-term supporter of Boccia, with the law firm being proud of its partnership with Boccia England. Some of its staff have also been trained as Boccia coaches and run regular sessions in their specific office locations.

Furthermore, the firm’s commitment to disability sport has also seen it named the Official Legal Services Provider of the World Para Athletics Championships in London last year and a supporter of the Superhero Series held at Dorney Lake in Windsor in summer.
