Strong Performance In Challenging Market

Irwin Mitchell’s Corporate team in the South East has once again been named as one of the most active for completing deals in the region.

The team, which are based in Irwin Mitchell’s offices in Gatwick and Southampton, ranked second in the league table which measures Corporate teams by the number of transactions they have advised clients on.

Despite a 24% overall decline in M&A in H1 compared to a year earlier and the quietest six-month period in terms of volumes since 2014, Irwin Mitchell’s team in the South East performed strongly, advising on 16 deals during the first half of the year.

According to Experian, the organisation which compiles the tables, a total of 446 deals were recorded in the first six months of 2017 across the region.

Manufacturing remained the busiest sector, with 127 deals. However, this was a 32 per cent decrease on the 186 deals recorded in the first half of 2016. This was followed by infocomms (122) and professional services (103), which both experienced a fall in volumes.
