Diacetyl research
A Liberal Democrat leader has written to the Secretary of State to question the mechanisms in place to protect workers from the effects of diacetyl.
Mr Hancock, from the Portsmouth South constituency, questioned Alan Johnson about what research that has been commissioned and evaluated on the effects of food flavouring chemical, and what procedures are in place to protect workers in the food industry.
Mrs McGuire responded to the queries revealing that no research had been carried out by the Government of Health or the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) however, evidence from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the USA on the potential dangers were accepted.
