We will be keeping a close eye over the coming months on the outcome of an inquiry into the impact that COVID-19 has had on children and young people with SEND.
The inquiry is seeking views from children and young people, parents, carers and anyone involved in special educational needs who has had symptoms or who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
We want to encourage as many people as possible to respond to this enquiry as the findings will be used to make recommendations to the Government on its role in balancing and working towards limiting the impact that COVID-19 has had upon children and young people.
The inquiry is open to receive evidence under four broad topics, which will form the basis of at least four oral evidence sessions in Parliament (or virtually), from July to November 2020:
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and learning
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties
- Sensory and/or physical needs.
The deadline for responses is 31 October 2020 and written submissions can be made by email to appg.send@naht.org.uk.
