Our client was employed as a bar person when she suffered a personal injury at work.
On 10 June 2007 she collected some plates from a table and was going back into the kitchen from the lounge. She went through a set of double doors into the kitchen when she slipped on lino in the kitchen.
Her legs went back into a sort of sitting position onto a step and she landed on her coccyx on the edge of the step. Pain went up her back. Our client had previously had a road traffic accident, at which time she injured her shoulder. As a result of the accident at work, she exacerbated this pre-existing shoulder injury.
We argued that the reason her accident happened was because the surface of the floor (i.e. the lino) was in itself extremely slippery.
The claim was settled out of court and our client received more than £4,000 in compensation.
