A BT employee was recently awarded damages following a road traffic accident during which he was driving his work vehicle.
The matter was backed to Trial by the Union in a case which might otherwise have been settled, pre-trial, in favour of the other driver. Mr Maughan was turning right out of a side road.
Vehicles in both directions had stopped to allow Mr Maughan to pull out when another driver attempted to overtake the stationary line of traffic on the main road colliding with Mr Maughan’s vehicle.
The union solicitors acting on behalf of Mr Maughan, Irwin Mitchell, were able to trace an independent witness, just days before trial, who gave evidence supporting Mr Maughan.
