Irwin Mitchell Raises £14,000 For Charity Of The Year
Baby charity Tiny Lives is set to benefit from a record £14,000 donation from Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office, after employees at the firm spent all of last year raising funds for the organisation.
Tiny Lives was nominated by staff at the office to be their Charity of the Year for 2016 as part of a nationwide initiative developed by the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation.
Established in 1997, IMCF is an independent registered charity set up by the firm which has donated more than £1.5 million to third sector organisations. A record £163,000 was raised in total across the law firm’s offices in 2016, with the £14,000 for Tiny Lives also being a record for the Newcastle office.
Tiny Lives launched in 1983 and specialises in providing care and support for premature and sick babies, their mothers and their families at the Special Care Baby Unit of the Newcastle Neonatal Service at the Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Jane Wright, Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide this record donation to a truly fantastic cause in our local community.
“Our Charity of the Year initiative is something that all of our employees are very passionate about, with everyone pitching in to raise funds in a variety of ways across 2016 to ensure we can provide quality support to this charity.
“Last year was a record-breaking one in terms of our fundraising work and we are very proud to be able to give back to the local communities where we operate in this manner.”
The funds raised for Tiny Lives will support the range of services offered by the charity, which include the provision of development care aids and equipment, the maintenance of a family room, accommodation and dedicated social worker support to assist families.
Louise Carroll at Tiny Lives said, “A huge thank you to Irwin Mitchell and all their staff for raising an incredible £14,000 for Tiny Lives! The whole team were involved in organising fantastic fundraising activities throughout 2016. This significant donation means we can continue to provide the best possible care to help premature and sick babies in the North East. The monies raised will pay for much needed developmental care aids to help 700 babies who every year spend weeks, sometimes months on the RVI Special Care Baby Unit. We are extremely grateful to all at Irwin Mitchell."
