Our client was working as a cleaner at a local school when she slipped on a dangerous patch of ice. The path, which had not gritted was dangerously slippery and there were no warnings in place as to the hazards of the area.
As a consequence of the fall, our client sustained a fracture to her right wrist. She underwent a surgical procedure under general anaesthetic in which metal wires were inserted into her arm. It was also necessary for her to undertake a course of physiotherapy.
Cathryn Godfrey, of the Serious Injury team in Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office helped her to pursue a claim, which we were able to settle for £15,000 without the need for starting Court proceedings. This figure included compensation for lost earnings during her recovery period, money for the care and assistance provided to her by her husband, and reimbursement for travel expenses incurred. It will also go towards the assistance that our client will need around the house in the future due to the residual weakness in her wrist that she now experiences.
If you've been injured as a result of a slip or trip at work, our personal injury claims team could help you to secure compensation. Visit our Workplace Slip & Trip Compensation page for more information.
