Our client, a 64-year-old woman, went to her local Tesco to buy some wine.
As she entered the store and collected a hand basket she suddenly slipped upon something on the floor and landed flat on her back. She had slipped on a grape which had been dropped on the floor.
Our client did not immediately realise she had suffered serious injury to her back but as her pain didn't subside she attended her GP. She was diagnosed with a fracture to the vertebrae in her back and was fitted with a back brace which she wore for the following three months.
The client was unable to work for six weeks and required care and assistance from her family. She continues to experience aching in her back, although this is expected to improve.
Liability for our client's accident was admitted and she recovered £13,000 for her injuries and £7,000 for her financial loss as a result of the accident.
If you've been injured due to a slip or trip in a supermarket or shopping centre, our personal injury claims team could help you secure compensation. See our Supermarket & Shopping Centre Accident Claims page for more information.
