J, a 61 year old female, sustained injuries following an accident in the supermarket where she was employed. At the time of the accident, J was cleaning a large area of accumulated waste in the warehouse of the supermarket. The area had not been cleaned for several days and was awash with liquid. Whilst clearing the area, J slipped and fell backwards and as a result, suffered a broken radius and ulna to her right dominant arm.
Consequently, J suffered a loss of earnings. She was unable to work for 3 months, thereafter returning to light duties. Throughout this period, J was dependent on her husband for bathing and washing her hair, as well as cooking, cleaning and shopping.
With the help of Mark Aldridge from Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, J brought a claim against her employers. The case was settled out of Court and our client received £8,750 in compensation.
