Lawyers from our public liability team helped a Sheffield woman to claim compensation after she suffered a broken wrist in a fall.
Before the accident, our client needed a three-wheeled walking frame to help her to walk. On July 5th 2010 she was using her walking frame and was walking with her friend. The friends were walking along the pavement but our client had to move towards the kerb side of the pavement to avoid a number of bins that had been left out for collection. As she moved to the right, the front wheel of her walking frame jarred into a pothole and our client fell onto her right hand side, causing her to break her wrist.
The woman’s injuries left her needing an operation on her wrist and weeks of rehabilitation. She was left unable to carry out a number of household chores and struggled to get around on her own for a few weeks.
The woman contacted specialist personal injury lawyers in our Sheffield office to help her claim compensation. The local council, who were responsible for the upkeep of the pavement, accepted responsibility for the accident and we settled the claim for £6,000. The compensation settlement covered our client’s travel expenses and allowed her get help with her personal care.
