A West Midlands man has received £40,000 as a result of an accident which occurred in Kings Heath, Birmingham.
The 81-year-old man had been walking along the pathway with his wife when he tripped on a broken paving stone. He landed heavily, fracturing his right shoulder and bruising his face.
The claim was settled by Tania Bains of Irwin Mitchell's Fast Track Team, at the Birmingham office.
Miss Bains said, “As a result of the Council's failure to maintain a public highway my client sustained a painful injury with lasting symptoms. My client required a great deal of care and assistance with day to day activities, and we were able to recover substantial compensation for both injuries, and the care provided by his family.
"We have repeatedly called for improvements in highway maintenance and will continue to campaign for the rights of victims of such negligence."
