A former RAF Corporal received £295,000 after claiming compensation for injuries sustained while based at RAF Akotiri, Cyprus.
Our client, a well respected Corporal with good promotion prospects was medically discharged as a result of his injuries and resultant disabilities. He sustained crush injuries to his right lower leg and ankle and developed complex regional pain syndrome. He continues to undergo treatment in relation to his continuing pain.
Our client has been unable to utilise his trade qualifications as an aircraft engineer in civilian employment and is only able to work in sedentary occupations. There was evidence to support that he would have continued in the RAF to complete 30 years service.
The award of compensation was fully justified in view of our client's ongoing symptoms and his loss of military career. The award takes into account an amount to compensate him for his injuries, past and ongoing loss of earnings, care, military benefits and pension and terminal grant which he would have been entitled to receive at the end of his military career.
