Biography
I am a Solicitor in Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office having qualified in May 2021. I started my career at Irwin Mitchell as a Paralegal in January 2017.
I work in the workplace injury team dealing with claims for people who have developed asbestos-related illnesses, in particular claims for mesothelioma, asbestosis, asbestos-related lung cancer and pleural thickening. I also work on other, non-asbestos related, workplace illness claims.
I have experience of Group Action work, working alongside senior members of the business in the ’British Coal Coke Oven Workers Litigation’ and the ’British Steel Coke Oven Workers Litigation’.
What inspired you to get into law?
I first studied Law at A-Level and found it so interesting that I went on to complete my Law Degree at Northumbria University. It was at this point I knew I wanted to be a Solicitor. I got a job as a Paralegal which gave me the experience I needed to progress to the role that I am in now. I've always enjoyed helping people so working in the field of personal injury was a perfect fit.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I like working as part of a large national organisation, while helping to seek justice for individuals. I find it very rewarding to work alongside and learn from such hard-working and passionate lawyers and other professionals!
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
It’s a great feeling to be able to make a real difference to peoples’ lives. Many of our clients come to us following life-changing events and I enjoy building a relationship with them and their families and helping obtain a sense of justice for them.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office I am kept busy with looking after my two young children. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling, going to the gym and running.
