Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth has seen several of its teams grow in recent months, with six new hires that are Associate or above.
Two new Partners have joined the Tax, Trusts and Estates teams in Newbury and Chichester. Joining from Hunters in London, Partner Andrew Parry has expertise in lifetime and post-death tax and succession planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney. He has significant experience of advising the owners of landed estates and rural businesses, private individuals, trustees of private trusts and charities.
David Bird has been appointed by Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth’s Chichester office. Bird has expertise in tax and trust law and advises on tax planning for a variety of clients including business owners, shareholders in private companies and families with inherited wealth. He also creates Trusts, Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and advises on existing structures. As well as being a solicitor, Bird is a Chartered Tax Adviser.
Two Senior Associates have joined the Will, Trust and Estate Disputes team in Leeds and Chichester. Nazia Nawaz, based in Leeds, is a highly experienced dispute resolution and litigation solicitor. She handles complex disputes between executors and trustees, contested wills and proprietary estoppel cases as well as disputes involving financial abuse and maladministration.
Stephen Ireland is the second Senior Associate to join Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth. Having qualified in 1991, Stephen joins the Chichester office having gathered vast experience in litigation, including contentious wills and probate matters, with a wider background in employment, residential and civil disputes. Both Nazia and Stephen are members of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).
Finally, two new Associates joined the Family and Will, Trust and Estate Disputes teams in Bristol and Sheffield respectively. Erin Sawyer has experience in undertaking a full range of family and divorce matters including financial remediation mandates, cohabitation disputes and pre-marital agreements among others. She has a Masters of Law (LLM) in International Business Law, and is therefore uniquely qualified to handle family affairs concerning family-owned SME companies and partnerships, as well as large shareholdings in private and publicly-listed companies.
Sheffield-based Kelly Wharin has a decade of experience in litigation, having started her legal career at HLW Keeble Hawson as a trainee in 2005. Her previous work in insolvency disputes and commercial litigation supports her experience in contentious probate work. She is currently working towards becoming a member of The Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).
