Further Recognition For Irwin Mitchell’s Strong Litigation Credentials
For the second year in a row, an Irwin Mitchell employment lawyer has been named in the ‘Hot 100’ by leading trade publication, The Lawyer.
Shazia Khan, partner in the firm’s Employment and Professional Discipline team, has been named in the prestigious list for her ground breaking work in a number of high profile litigation cases over the last 12 months.
In one of these cases, Shazia acted on behalf of Semhar Tesfagiorgis, an Eritrean who has worked as a croupier at Mayfair casino Aspinall’s, where managers had turned a blind eye to racism.
Shazia also led a complex group action case for 66 agency workers against Angard Staffing Solutions and Royal Mail Group. Here she successfully challenged a ‘status’ appeal brought by Angard and Royal Mail to the EAT, who confirmed her clients were agency workers and should not be denied agency worker rights.
Shazia’s appearance in 2021’s Hot 100 follows on from fellow employment partner, Emilie Cole, who last year won plaudits by The Lawyer for her successful Supreme Court case where she acted on behalf of district judge Claire Gilham.
In addition to Shazia and Emilie, Irwin Mitchell’s National Head of Family, Ros Bever, and Head of the London office, Alison Eddy, have appeared in the high profile list in previous years.
Fergal Dowling, National Head of the Employment team at Irwin Mitchell, said:
