Men, Women And Children Fell Ill During Stay At Four-Star Ski Resort In Italian Alps
Specialist international personal injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell have welcomed news that Italian police and health officials are now carrying out an urgent investigation after 18 Britons were stuck down with suspected food poisoning at a four star hotel in the Alps.
Paramedics were called after men, women and children, fell ill on New Year’s Day at the Hotel Miravalle, just north of Turin.
The holidaymakers, who were taken to hospital, all arrived at the resort last week, with Luton-based operator Crystal Ski, which is part of TUI, reported The Sun.
Expert Opinion
“The news that so many people fell ill and had to be rushed to hospital in this way is deeply concerning. It is every holidaymaker’s worst nightmare, particularly when children are among those affected.
Through our work we often see the long-lasting consequences that people struck down with gastric illness can be left to face. Symptoms can persist for several months, meaning those affected may need ongoing help and support to overcome their illness.
Those caught up in this incident will be anxious for answers as to how they became ill.
Food hygiene and the safety of holidaymakers must always be the prime concern. We welcome the news that police and health officials are now investigating this outbreak.
If during the course of the investigation any issues are identified it is vital that lessons are learned, to reduce similar incidents occurring again.” Jatinder Paul - Partner
