Recognition For Employees/Unions Specialism Reflects Stellar Success And Client Focus Approach Of Team

National law firm Irwin Mitchell’s Employment Team has been shortlisted for the Legal 500 Awards for Specialist Employment Firm in recognition of its work for Employees/ Unions.

The awards are organised by one of the leading legal trade bodies Legal 500, following submissions for its annual directory, and research by its in-house research team. 

The awards dinner will be on 27th February 2020.

The short listing is a reflection of the work carried out by Irwin Mitchell’s Employment and Professional Disciplines team in London which joined the firm in June 2018 to complement its existing employment practice which primarily advised employers and HR departments.

Led by Shah Qureshi and including partners Shazia Khan and Emilie Cole, the new  team advises senior employees on a range of matters including whistleblowing, discrimination, harassment, parental rights, restrictive covenants, unfair dismissal and redundancy. The team has an especially strong reputation for advising senior executives and professionals in the medical and healthcare, banking and financial services and legal professional services sector.

It has had a stellar 17 months since arrival at Irwin Mitchell including in October successfully helping Judge Gilham secure whistleblower protection for all UK judges and statutory office holders in a Supreme Court human rights case. In April the team successfully argued in a group action campaign on behalf of 60 agency workers in their employment tribunal claims against Angard Staffing Solutions Ltd and Royal Mail Group Ltd that they are protected by the Agency Workers Regulations 2010. The case is set for a final hearing in September 2020.
