Hambleton Club Purchasing New Equipment With Funds From Irwin Mitchell
Members of the Hambleton Boccia Club have welcomed a donation from a national law firm, which will help fund new equipment.
The team, which is run by North Yorkshire Inclusive Sports and trains at the Northallerton Leisure Centre, received £350 from Irwin Mitchell which has provided them with a much-needed financial boost and part of the donation is earmarked for the purchase of new Boccia balls.
Boccia is described as an all-inclusive disability sport that tests muscle control and accuracy, with players propelling balls to land close to a target ball.
Alan Ball, specialist lawyer in serious injury cases at Irwin Mitchell, paid a visit to the club on Saturday, 4 May, where he met with the team.
Expert Opinion
“We are delighted to provide ongoing support to the Hambleton Boccia team. We have been working closely with them for over a year now and it’s great to be able to offer help when it’s needed.
They are a great group of players, all with different abilities.
I had a lot of fun when I attended the team training session, and I’m glad that the money we have donated will be put to good use. I look forward to continuing to support the team in the future.”
Alan Ball - Associate Solicitor
Joe McKechnie, the inclusive sports officer responsible for managing the Hambleton Boccia team, said: “It was fantastic to see Alan, and we are all very grateful to him and his team at Irwin Mitchell for all their support.
“The generous donation of £350 will be used to purchase some higher quality Boccia ball sets, as well as helping to pay for our facility hire charges.”
