Local Charity Blown Away By Support Of Local Law Firm
North East charity Tynedale Hospice at Home were ‘blown away’, when they were informed staff at the Newcastle office of Irwin Mitchell had raised a staggering £27,159 for them through the law firm’s Charity of the Year programme.
The fundraising formed part of the work of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF). Established in 1997, the IMCF is an independent registered charity which, thanks to last year’s efforts, has now donated more than £2 million to good causes throughout the UK and £284,000 in 2018 alone, including the £27,159 for the hospice charity.
Tynedale Hospice at Home is a Northumberland-based charity providing end of life nursing care to people in their own home, hospital transport and pre and post bereavement support through its Family Support Services, to people living in the areas of West Northumberland, Tynedale and Ponteland.
Cathy Bates, senior community fundraiser at Tynedale Hospice at Home, said: “We are absolutely blown away by this incredible donation, which will make such a difference to local people who need our services. A sum like this could pay for 900 hours of care for someone who needs end of life nursing care in their own home.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the staff at Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office, who have been boundless in their enthusiasm and commitment to supporting our Hospice over the last year. From hosting a fabulous ball and rolling up their sleeves at supermarket bag packs, to taking on challenges like the terrifying Via Ferrata in the Lake District, they have pulled out all the stops to make their year of fundraising an incredible success. We are indebted to them all.”
