Irwin Mitchell Nominates New Charity of the Year
A charity which provides leisure support services to children with special needs is set for a fundraising boost after colleagues at the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell nominated the organisation to be their Charity of the Year for 2019.
The national law firm’s annual charity initiative sees staff across 13 of its offices take part in a vote to select a good cause which they can support through both voluntary work and fundraising events.
It is part of work undertaken by the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF), an independent charity founded in 1997 which has raised more than £1.8 million for charities in the UK and abroad.
This year, the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell has voted to support the organisation Special Needs and Parent Support, which is best known as SNAPS. The charity specialises in supporting both young people with special needs and their families, giving them an opportunity to enjoy a range of activities from specialist therapies to play.
Andrew Merrick, Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office, said:
SNAPS was originally established in 2004 and works to provide a range of leisure services for children with special needs, including hydrotherapy and rebound therapy sessions. The funds raised by Irwin Mitchell will go towards supporting all aspects of the organisation’s work.
Jenny Sellers, community fundraising manager at SNAPS, said: “I’m delighted that Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office has chosen SNAPS as their Charity of the Year. Their support will make a big difference and help us to continue providing our fantastic services.”
