Demand For Answers Following Problems At Barut Lara Hotel
A man whose stay at a Turkish holiday resort last year was ruined when he developed gastric illness has instructed specialist travel lawyers to help him gain answers and justice regarding the problems.
Stephen Nicholson, 64, from Newcastle, fell ill with symptoms including diarrhoea and sickness around three days into his two-week all inclusive holiday with his wife, Bernadette, at the five-star Barut Lara Hotel in September, with the problems proving so severe that he struggled to enjoy a significant proportion of his break.
He has also revealed how he was left stunned when he informed reps from Jet2holidays regarding the illness and they did not send anyone to check on him and did not know where the hospital was.
Following his return to the UK, Stephen called on Irwin Mitchell’s specialist International Personal Injury team to help him gain answers regarding how he developed the illness and the impact that it had on his holiday.
The legal experts have vast experience in providing advice and support to thousands of holidaymakers affected by illness problems at holiday resorts and on cruise ships abroad, helping them to gain access to vital funds to support their recovery.
Clare Pearson, the legal expert at Irwin Mitchell who is acting for Stephen, said:

“The seriousness of gastric illness issues like this should never be downplayed, as we have seen numerous cases in which people have developed very severe long-term health problems as a result of such issues.
“Our client is understandably frustrated that his time away has been ruined by illness and we are determined to ensure he gets the answers he deserves regarding how it emerged.
"If you also travelled to this resort and experienced similar problems we would like to hear from you to help with our on-going investigation and enquiries." Clare Pearson - Legal Executive & Associate
Stephen’s holiday at the Barut Lara Hotel began on September 14th, but it was just days later in the early hours of the morning that he first started to develop illness symptoms.
He recalled: “There was a large choice of food available but during my stay I noticed that some of the food was uncovered and new food was being tipped onto food which was already laid out for guests. Some of the chicken and turkey which was being served at the hotel appeared undercooked and some of the food did not seem very hot.
“The diarrhoea and sickness completely knocked me off my feet and I had a horrible fever. I was in a terrible state. It was absolutely awful and I just could not believe that it had happened.
“This was meant to be a relaxing summer holiday but the illness just ruined it. To make matters worse, when I talked to the reps about it they did not seem overly concerned and could not tell my wife where the local hospital was.
“I’m hugely frustrated by everything that has happened and feel I have been left with little choice but to take this action. While nothing can change what I’ve been through, I only hope I get the answers I am looking for from Jet2holidays.”
