Fairytale Trip Organised By Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham’s Office To Mark Client Milestones

Children and adults battling serious injury and illness enjoyed a special performance of Cinderella at Birmingham Hippodrome to mark a year of achievements; including clients taking their first steps, moving into a specially adapted home and enjoying hydrotherapy sessions.

The group consisting of adults and children who have suffered birth injuries, road accidents or life-changing illness were allowed to throw the theatre rulebook out of the window for the relaxed performance singing, dancing and getting out of their seats as the actors tread the boards onstage.

The special event was organised by Birmingham law firm Irwin Mitchell’s Court of Protection (CoP) team to recognise the amazing achievements that its clients have made throughout the past year, as well as give them and their families a brief break from the challenges that their disabilities can bring.

A total of 79 clients, friends and family were treated to the performance by the law firm.

The CoP team specialise in all matters relating to the Court of Protection and support those responsible for managing the affairs of a personal incapable of doing it themselves.

Among those to enjoy the panto visit was Rob Bate. The 22-year-old, of Staffordshire, has cerebral palsy, severe visual impairment and spastic quadraparesis, after suffering serious injury as a baby.

Rob, a performing arts student at Stafford College, continues to receive support from Irwin Mitchell. He travels up and down the country with Villa Rockets to compete in wheelchair football matches.

His mum Jenny said: “Rob is fiercely independent and doesn’t want disability to hamper his ability to live life to its fullest.

“As a family we do face challenges. The visit to the Hippodrome was a great way to unwind and enjoy a great night out.”

The performance took place on 24 January, 2018, where stars among the cast included singers Beverley Knight and Suzanne Shaw as well as actor Danny Mac.
