Around 80 Pupils Among Those Affected By ‘Food Poisoning’
Investigations have been launched following reports that both pupils and staff at Hilden Grange School in Tonbridge have fallen victim to suspected food poisoning.
Public Health England and local environmental health officers are undertaking inquiries following reports that up to 80 pupils and six members of staff had been affected by the outbreak at the private school on Dry Hill Park Road.
It is believed that all of those affected, who reportedly fell ill last week, are now back at school.
John Withers, the headteacher of Hilden Grange School, said the site and its caterers were cooperating with those investigating the problems.
He added: “The safety and well-being of our pupils and staff is always our number one priority.”

Expert Opinion
It is very worrying to see these reports emerge, particularly as they come around a week after reports of a separate illness outbreak affecting around 90 pupils at Beaconside School in Penrith. <br/> <br/>"Our work representing victims of illness outbreaks means we have seen numerous cases when people of all ages have suffered long-term health problems as a result of the illnesses which they have contracted. <br/> <br/>"It is vital that Public Health England and the relevant local authorities work quickly and thoroughly to determine the cause of outbreaks of this nature, with the ultimate aim of ensuring staff, pupils and worried parents can be given reassurances regarding safety. <br/> <br/>"Information should also be shared across the education community to ensure that other schools are aware of the circumstances and what they may also be able to do to protect pupils and staff from potential issues in the future."
