Expert Illness Lawyers Instructed To Investigate After Devon Customers Suffer
Specialist illness lawyers have been instructed to investigate after a number of people suffered from gastric illness after using milk products from Dunn’s Dairy in Devon.
Several families have asked Irwin Mitchell to help provide answers as to how they became ill after drinking milk which has since been recalled due to concerns over possible contamination. Campylobacter, a common cause of food poisoning, has been confirmed in some of the illness victims.
Public Health England has previously stated that West Devon Borough Council’s Environment Health team had asked the dairy at Beacon View Farm to stop selling certain milk and cream products, and said they should also recall some products already supplied.
Irwin Mitchell has successfully represented thousands of members of the public who have suffered illness or injury as a result of consuming contaminated food and drink products, including those who suffered serious illness after consuming Cadbury’s chocolate products contaminated with Salmonella in 2006.
Elizabeth Tetzner, a specialist illness lawyer at Irwin Mitchell representing people affected in Devon, said: “It’s crucial that the concerns regarding contamination are investigated by the authorities as soon as possible so that our clients can get answers as to what made them ill.
“Consumers have been asked not to drink the milk and cream from the site but for some it is too late and we have heard reports from people in the region that they have suffered gastric illness.
“We have received a number of enquiries from people who have suffered with illness after drinking milk from Dunns Dairy at Beacon View Farm. We will now be investigating on their behalf to find out if more could have been done to prevent their illness.
“It is understood that some of those affected have suffered with Campylobacter which can be a serious gastric illness and in some circumstances can cause long term issues such as irritable bowel syndrome. Our clients want answers as to what went wrong and what steps are being taken to ensure it does not happen again.”
