EQ Can Meet Demand For Manchester Office Space
The new owners of the iconic Salford Quays' office development, Exchange Quay, have announced a £10 million refurbishment programme as part of plans to attract new tenants.
The announcement coincided with the news that the 430,000 sq ft business complex had changed hands and been acquired by a North American Institution for an undisclosed sum.
Located in Salford Quays and near to MediaCity, Exchange Quay was built between in the early 1990s and at the time described as the ‘Canary Wharf Of The North’.
A host of high profile occupiers such as Sage UK are in occupation at Exchange Quay. Recent deals to new occupiers include Kin-Tec Electronics who is occupying 8,181 sq ft and Future Electronics leasing 4,000 sq ft. Existing occupiers GAB Robins and CH Robinson have also recently expanded to occupy 10,000 sq ft and 6,785 sq ft respectively.
News of the investment comes at a time when demand for commercial office space in Greater Manchester is booming.
Commercial property agents have recently reported a surge in demand for office space in Manchester. Lambert Smith Hampton has said that office take up in Manchester city centre was at a three year high and up 77 per cent on the previous quarter. These findings are reflected in a recent study of the local property market by Jones Lang Lasalle. Their recent report pointed to a significant increase in the first nine months of 2013 compared to 2012.
