News Comes Days After Suspected Norovirus Problems At Hotel In City
Reports that a number of children have been affected by a suspected illness outbreak at a Newport nursery are a major concern, according to legal experts who specialise in helping people affected by similar problems in the UK and abroad.
South Wales Argus reports that 23 cases of illness have been reported so far in relation to a private nursery in the city, whilst Newport City Council is working alongside Public Health Wales to examine the problems.
It has been claimed that viral gastroenteritis is the cause of the latest cases, which have been reported days after more than 70 people were confirmed to have been affected by a suspected norovirus outbreak at the city’s Hilton Hotel, and are suspected to be caused by the same virus.
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist illness lawyers have vast experience in helping victims of illness outbreaks in the UK and abroad to gain answers over the problems they have endured. The team are currently working on behalf of a number of people affected by the major Legionnaires’ outbreaks in both Stoke-on-Trent and Edinburgh in recent months.
Suki Chhokar, a Partner and expert in illness claims in the UK and abroad, said: “To see news of these problems emerge so soon after the problems at the hotel have been confirmed is clearly a worrying development.
“It is a particular concern that children are involved in these latest problems, as we have seen a number of instances in the past when youngsters have suffered long-term health issues after being caught up in major illness outbreaks.
“Ultimately, we hope that the authorities are able to work quickly to gain answers over these problems to try to prevent anyone else from being affected by the problems. Many parents will have questions and it is vital that they are kept fully up-to-date on any developments.”
