We secured over one million in compensation for a man who lost his leg after a car drove into him at a bus stop.
Our client was waiting for a bus when the car came off the road and collided with him. He suffered multiple injuries, including damage to his left leg that was so severe the limb had to be amputated.
He was recommended to our expert Serious Injury team after being unhappy with the first law firm he consulted. As soon as we took on his case we secured interim funds to help pay for a new prosthetic, as well as counselling and physiotherapy. This money also meant that the family home could be adapted to help accommodate his needs.
We secured a final settlement in excess of £1m, as well as additional payments for future prosthetics. It was vital that our client was able to get the highest quality of care, and we ensured that the funds would cover high-tech prosthetics to allow him to recuperate as fully as possible.
Leeds-based Partner Carolyn Heaton represented him. She said: “At Irwin Mitchell, we always endeavour to provide our clients with maximum protection and to cater for their needs for the rest of their lives. In this case, it is particularly pleasing that our client will have access to the high-tech prosthetics that he needs in future.”
Our serious injury solicitors could help you claim compensation if you have suffered an injury that resulted in the amputation of a limb. See our Amputation Compensation Claims page for more information.
