Our Serious Injury team has recovered a five figure sum for a pedestrian who was knocked down as he crossed the road.
Our client was on his way home from a night out when he was struck by a car. The area was well lit and the road was a wide one.
The young man suffered various injuries, including a fractured cheekbone, a blow to the head, and a fracture in his leg. He also sustained damage to his knee that required surgery.
The driver’s insurers at first admitted responsibility but then decided against this. With help from our expert Personal Injury team, our client was able to successfully bring a case against them and receive compensation. Our collision investigator was able to use the data provided by the police to analyse the speed and position of the car in the road, which enabled us to argue that the driver was partly at fault for the accident. The settlement reflected the fact that there was some blame on both sides, as both driver and pedestrian should have had a clear view of one another.
Sheffield based solicitor Louise Morgan, representing the young man, said: “We’re very pleased to have secured this settlement for our client, which will enable him to obtain any future treatment he may require. He’s made a good recovery from his injuries and continues to progress in his chosen career.”
