We successfully secured a six figure sum for a man after a collision in the East Midlands left him unable to work for more than a year.
Our client, a married man with two children, was driving along a road when a car coming in the opposite direction veered onto the wrong side of the road and drove into him, shunting his car off the road and into a ditch. The driver was later charged with drink driving.
Our client suffered serious orthopaedic injuries, including fractures to his arm, pelvis, and feet. He developed psychological symptoms as a result of the collision and needed a long time to recuperate. The mental and physical effects of the accident meant he was unable to work for over a year; as someone with a family to provide for, this was obviously a great concern to him.
We secured a six figure settlement as well as interim payments to ease our client’s financial burden while he was absent from work. He was also appointed a case manager, who was able to coordinate different therapies for him to help with his rehabilitation, and to help him return to work gradually.
Louise Morgan, an Associate in the Sheffield Serious Injury team, represented the client. She said: “With financial assistance from the third party insurers we were able, through the case manager, to arrange additional physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and the fitting of recommended insoles to assist in our client’s recovery. When he was able to return to work, we worked with the case manager to arrange a phased return with his employers, who supported him with lighter duties. This collaborative approach assisted our client greatly through a difficult time.'
