International personal injury lawyers from Irwin Mitchell helped to secure over £40,000 for 16 holidaymakers after they experienced illness whilst staying at the Brisas Guardalavaca Hotel in Cuba.
The 16 guests stayed at the hotel between August and September 2006 and were disappointed by the quality of the resort. They highlighted issues relating to the quality and cleanliness of the hotel, the poor quality of the food in the restaurant, the cleanliness of the swimming pool and the poor attitudes of the resort’s staff and tour representatives.
Our travel experts were successful in recovering compensation for the 16 holidaymakers from tour operator Thomas Cook.
Elaine’s story
One of our clients, Elaine, went on holiday with a party of five including her husband, mother, sister, brother-in-law and nephew. After just a few days at the hotel all members of the party fell ill with symptoms including diarrhoea and sickness. Upon their return home to the UK, all five members of the group continued to suffer with the illness.
Unfortunately Elaine and her mother continue to suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) as a result of their initial illness. With our help, the pair recovered £11,000 and £9,500 respectively.
The other members of their party thankfully recovered within four weeks of the holiday and working with our lawyers, received awards ranging from £1,500-£2,500.
Discussing the case, Elaine said: “Thank you so much to Irwin Mitchell for their help with our claim, they were fabulous.”
