Irwin Mitchell’s asbestos related disease experts helped a man to secure compensation following his diagnosis of mesothelioma.
Our client, Mr W, was exposed to asbestos whilst building garages using corrugated asbestos when working for his former employer, Panelite Structures Limited.
Mr W was first exposed to the harmful substance when he started working for the company in the mid-1960s and he continued to work with asbestos for a significant number of years.
As is often the case, Mr W developed symptoms of mesothelioma a number of years after his exposure. Many men who have worked hard to provide for their families over the years are completely unaware that they have been at risk of illness, due to asbestos exposure, and only realise when it is too late.
Working with our lawyers, Mr W secured an award of £145,000.
Looking back on the case, specialist asbestos related disease solicitor Mark Aldridge, said: “It was clear that Mr W’s only concern was to ensure that his wife has enough money to be comfortable after he died.
“Whilst we were unable to stop the relentless progress of the disease, it was rewarding to know that Mr W’s case settled and he knew his wife would be provided after his death.”
