Our serious injury team helped a young woman secure compensation after she suffered severe injuries in a road traffic collision.
Our client, Miss L, was driving to work when an oncoming car swerved and collided into her vehicle.
L sustained fractures to both feet, two ribs and her left hand. She required surgery to insert wires into her right foot and consequently had to use crutches for around seven weeks. She wore a cast on her right leg and a boot on her left. She later attended physiotherapy sessions.
L also suffered from flashbacks and travel anxiety so she underwent counselling to help these conditions. L was forced by her injuries to take six months off work and could then only manage a phased return.
She continues to suffer with pain and now has restricted movement, only being able to walk short distances.
The other driver was successfully prosecuted despite his insurance being void. The insurers handled the claim on behalf of the Motor Insurers Bureau.
Louise Morgan acted on behalf of L and helped her gain a six figure settlement which will help pay for future surgery if required. The amount also reflects the chance that L’s condition could deteriorate, impacting on her ability to work in her current role.
L was given special insoles as part of her rehabilitation. The team at Irwin Mitchell arranged for her to have an assessment with a specialist who advised on the creation of an in improved, personalised version. L’s compensation will help to fund these providing her with as much comfort as possible.
Louise said: “Miss L suffered a very frightening experience but her determination to make progress through her rehabilitation has been admirable and she now has compensation that will enable her to obtain any further treatment she may require in the future.”
