Irwin Mitchell acted on behalf of a man who suffered countless severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle
Our client, a young man, was injured in May 2011 after getting off a bus near Lakeside Shopping Centre. He proceeded to cross the road but was then hit by a vehicle which left him with a number of injuries.
The young man sustained a brain haemorrhage, lacerations to his left eye and forehead, a fractured left eye socket and damaged left eye muscles which affected his vision. In addition, the man suffered a fractured right fibular and tibia, a skull fracture, cheek fractures and other soft tissue injuries. Later, he developed dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss.
After the accident he was in a coma for several days, suffering memory loss and concentration problems as a result of his head injury. He underwent various surgical procedures including the insertion of metal work into his right knee and facial operations which resulted in significant scarring and facial deformities. His leg fractures did not heal well leading to further surgery. When examined by medical experts, they discovered the young man had also suffered from an organic personality change which was considered to be permanent.
Prior to the events our client was a DJ but found it virtually impossible to return to work because of his hearing and vision problems. Subsequently, the young man has made a very successful transition into music production.
Asha Vekaria worked with the client to secure him an out of court settlement. The young man was very pleased with the outcome and has since continued to rebuild his life. He now enjoys spending more time with his young son and family.
