Irwin Mitchell's serious injury solicitors helped to secure a £160,000 settlement for a woman after she was injured in a cycling accident.
Our client was cycling close to her home when a car pulled out from a side road into her path. The car collided with the woman and she was thrown from her bike, tumbling over the vehicle's bonnet and landing on the ground.
Due to the accident, our client sustained complex fractures to both of her wrists. Our solicitors worked with the woman and damages were successfully pursued against the car driver. A settlement of £160,000 was reached to compensate her pain, suffering and care needs.
Stephen Nye, a partner in our serious injury team, dealt with the case. He said: “This was a very frightening accident for my client, caused by inattention of the car driver.
“It is important that car drivers pay particular attention to cyclists when they are emerging from a minor road into a major road."
Stephen added: “My client’s injuries were very painful and a number of operations were required.
"Whilst a reasonable level of recovery was achieved, my client has been left with some permanent pain and limitation of function.
“This significant settlement will provide for the losses and expenses that she will incur in the future as a result of her injuries.”
