Irwin Mitchell’s Serious Injury team acted on behalf of a young man who suffered severe injuries after being hit by a car whilst crossing the road.
Our client was knocked over on a suburban road in Birmingham as he crossed with other members of his family. The driver of the vehicle was distracted by other traffic when he hit our client and the car was also wrongly driving in a bus lane.
As a consequence of the accident, the young man suffered a head injury, multiple fractures and dental injuries. At first, the injuries were thought to be life threatening but this was fortunately not the case and our client went on to make an excellent recovery.
Working with the teenager, our expert solicitors managed to secure £150,000 in compensation for the pain and suffering caused, alongside the future impact the injuries may have on our client’s future.
Stephen Nye, Partner in the Birmingham Serious Injury team handled the case and commented: “This is yet another accident that was entirely avoidable.
“My client was crossing the road correctly and a driver who was not paying attention and in a bus lane has hit him. The long term outcome could have been so much worse, though thankfully a very full, almost complete recovery has been made.
“This substantial award reflects the need for some future treatment and the likelihood that the client will be slightly disadvantaged on the employment market because of his injuries.”
