Serious injury experts at Irwin Mitchell secured a six-figure sum for a HGV driver following an accident at work.
Alan, from Doncaster, sustained injuries when he was knocked from the back of his lorry onto the ground by an unstable load. He was later found unconscious lying next to his lorry.
The accident has had a big impact upon Alan, who sustained a blow to the head as well as a broken left arm. As a result of his injuries Alan’s HGV licence was suspended and his livelihood was badly affected for some time.
Alan’s employer admitted liability and an out of court settlement was achieved by Lisa Fairclough of Irwin Mitchell’s specialist Serious Injury team.
She said: “This accident shows the importance of having robust safety systems to ensure that loads do not become unstable. The effect on people following an accident can be enormous in terms of their injuries and also their day-to-day lives, especially when they cannot work. Alan has had a difficult time since the accident but we were able to obtain interim payments of his damages throughout the claim to help Alan and his family keep afloat financially.”
