Irwin Mitchell's serious injury team has obtained a five figure settlement for a woman who suffered a fall on ice and snow while visiting a relative in a sheltered housing development.
Our client, Mrs W, was walking along a footpath from the car park at the premises when she slipped and fell, sustaining an injury to her shoulder. She needed surgery when pins and plates were applied to her fractured shoulder.
Despite having physiotherapy, Mrs W continues to have restricted movement and is in need of help with some aspects of her daily life. She may also require further surgery in the future.
We alleged that the managers of the premises had failed to grit or salt the path and hadn’t cleared the ice or snow from it, and their insurers admitted liability.
Louise Morgan, a serious injury specialist at Irwin Mitchell, represented Mrs W. She said: "After suffering such a nasty injury the compensation payment will enable Mrs W to obtain the future assistance and treatment that she will require."
