Irwin Mitchell’s specialist serious injury team has helped a man claim compensation after a serious road traffic accident.
On Saturday 7 October 2012 our client, Gareth, planned to spend his day with close friends near the town of Uxbridge. He started his day by visiting a friend’s house in the early morning, where they had planned to drive to a local cafe and enjoy a breakfast together. Whist travelling to the cafe, Gareth’s friend, who was driving the car, unfortunately lost control and collided straight into a lamp-post at high speed. The fire service had to be called to cut Gareth out of the passenger seat.
As a result of the high speed impact, Gareth suffered serious multiple injuries to his back, both of his legs and also sustained a strong blow to his head. This dramatically restricted Gareth’s mobility, forcing him to take extended leave from work, adding additional physical and financial pressures on his close relatives.
Gareth’s decision to contact Irwin Mitchell enabled him to receive the expert medical treatment he needed to maximise his recovery. Our team of personal injury specialists helped Gareth to make essential modifications to his home and to access a range of services, which included private medical support, intensive physiotherapy, specialised gym membership and regular psychological treatment.
On 26 February 2013, the driver was convicted of dangerous driving and received a custodial sentence together with a three year driving ban. Gareth is still going through a rehabilitation programme that Irwin Mitchell helped to put in place.
